How to write it
Start with a memory or a specific thing you appreciate about them. Then look forward, a hope, a wish, or an invitation. Sign off with warmth, not a formula.
- Open with a specific memory from the past year, not a generic well-wish.
- Match the tone to the person, a parent's card is not a coworker's card.
- Keep it short. Three or four sentences that mean something beats a page that doesn't.
- If you remember it, mention an inside joke. Cards are private; risk a little warmth.
- Sign off with a verb, 'love you', 'cheering for you', 'glad you exist', not just your name.
