A thinking-of-you card is the most generous occasion there is, because it has no occasion. You are sending it because you decided to. That is the whole gift.
How to write it
- Be specific about what made you think of them, a song, a smell, a memory, a place you walked past.
- Don't ask anything of them. No 'how are you doing?' that requires a reply.
- Keep it short. The card itself is the message.
Examples
Real examples of thinking of you cards by relationship. Use them as a jumping-off point — the best card is the one with at least one specific detail only you would mention.
I was driving through Asheville last weekend and I thought of that summer we spent there. Hope you're well. Thinking of you.
Just wanted you to know I've been thinking about you this week. No need to write back. Just sending love.
We haven't talked in a while and that's mostly my fault. I miss you. Hope the year has been kind. Thinking of you.
